About the Job:

If you're interested in a career at the University of Minnesota with great benefits, this job might be for you! The pay range for this position is $100,000-115,000 depending on experience. This position works on-site at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, on the East Bank campus in Minneapolis.

We're the School of Dentistry, and we're recruiting for a Director of Facilities and Engineering. In this position, you'll provide administrative leadership on college-wide maintenance, repair, and modifications to our facilities and all related equipment. We provide support services in the repair and maintenance of over a complex array of equipment: over 380 dental operatories and support labs as well as specialized research equipment.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Management of the School of Dentistry's space and facilities (60%):
    Supervise a team of personnel responsible for providing facilities support and technical support for the 380 operatories in our dental clinics. Responsible for hiring and training employees, team-building, facilitating regular team meetings, setting performance expectations, reviewing work performance, conducting probationary and annual performance reviews, assigning and rewarding work, and addressing disciplinary actions as needed.
  2. Maintenance and Repair (20%):
    Lead the maintenance, repair, and modification of building systems including electrical, nitrous oxide/oxygen, compressed air, dental unit water, oral suction, and ventilation. Produce project overviews with drawings, materials, equipment, and estimates.
  3. Budget and Inventory Management (20%):
    Prepare maintenance and operating reports, budgets, and cost estimates. Maintain the School of Dentistry equipment inventory database and manage key control systems.
  4. Capital Equipment Program Management (10%):
    Assess capital equipment needs, process purchase requests, and collaborate with Financial Management for budgeting.
  5. Liaison to School and Campus Programs (10%):
    Support the School of Dentistry's Outreach programs and communicate with various departments for facility needs.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
BA/BS degree plus at least eight years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of large non-residential or multiple facilities. At least four years of supervisory experience. Demonstrated knowledge of facilities operations, architecture, interior design, and OSHA regulations. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the maintenance of clinical equipment and managing large capital renovation projects.
