About the Position
The City of Saint Paul Public Works Department has two vacant Engineering Technician Supervisor positions within Street Maintenance and Right of Way.

Position Requirements
Thirty semester credits in courses acceptable toward an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering as offered by the U of M or equivalent.
AND
Two years of experience as a PW Technician III or equivalent, performing independent, advanced level field and office engineering technician work such as drafting, inspecting public infrastructure (including sewer or water systems), conducting utility plan review, permitting, construction cost estimating, or supervising survey crews.
For positions at the Asphalt plant:
Candidates for positions at the asphalt plant may qualify as noted above OR
With ten (10) years of experience as a Public Works Supervisor including at least 3 years as a Public Works Supervisor III or equivalent, performing supervision of construction and maintenance of public infrastructure and providing work direction in the field.

About the Position
The City of Saint Paul Public Works Department has two vacant Engineering Technician Supervisor positions within Street Maintenance and Right of Way.
Here's what you can expect to do:
- Perform responsible supervisory and skilled engineering work in planning, investigating, designing, inspecting, administering, operating, or maintaining assigned facilities or projects.
- Coordinate construction projects with other agencies.
- Develop contracts for public works projects.

- Lead and direct vegetation management plans and goals in alignment with the objectives of the Public Works Department and the City of Saint Paul.
- Administrate City policies and procedures for seasonal vegetation management and winter snow operations.
- Supervise technical staff and oversee supervision of other City personnel who are temporarily assisting with Snow Emergency activities.
- Oversee contract administration, work quality, permit compliance, and contractor performances.
- Develop community outreach programs to build a volunteer workforce.
- Engage in grant writing and pursues funding opportunities at the Federal, State, and Local levels.
- Oversee daily operations of the Asphalt plant, including budget, materials, infrastructure maintenance and repairs.
- Supervise Asphalt plant staff by managing the interview and hiring process, assigning duties, reviewing job performance, approving leave requests, and ensuring consistent staffing levels. Document performance issues and issue discipline when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all required permits, including those from the County and Department of Homeland Security.
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA regulations and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for production, pricing, environmental permits, billing, and financial data.
- Provide customer service, addressing inquires and concerns. Resolve any disputes raised to management by customers.
