Position Overview
As our CNC Programmer / Operator , you will work as part of a team that is responsible for reading and interpreting shop fabrication drawings to fabricate and assemble our products to our client's specifications. You will apply your manufacturing knowledge and skills to independently develop programs by writing code to produce machines parts on CNC lathes and mills which will include setting up and operating CNC machines while maintaining quality and safety standards. You will report directly to our Operations Manager.
Position Responsibilities
- Demonstrates independent decision-making skills on day-to-day production tasks
- Plan machining operations by reviewing work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
- Programming mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs using CAD software and/or programming software included with each CNC machine
- Analyze drawings, blueprints, and design data to calculate correct part dimension for machines, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates
- Set up and operate CNC machines
- Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
- Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers, and fixtures and gauges to check work and perform detailed inspection of parts produced
- Read Instrumentation and gauges to accurately measure dimensions on parts being machined within specified tolerance
- Salary $28-35/hour+, depending on experience

Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required, associate degree in machine tech or qualified journeyman program for machining a plus
- Must have at least 3 years' experience as a CNC Programmer, programming with 2D/3D
- CAM/CAD software in a shop environment for multi-axis machining 2D & 3D projects
- Experience programming for and operating multiple axis CNC machines
- HAAS control experience a plus
- Ability to convert metric to SAE required
- Experience creating and mounting fixtures
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Working knowledge of using calipers & micrometers
- Intermediate to advanced shop math and basic mechanical aptitude
- Proficient using a PC in a Windows environment
- Good problem solving and conceptual skills
- Excellent communication skills to convey detailed instructions to the machine operators, and to communicate with managers, leads and engineers regarding designs and drawings
- Must have a proficient understanding of G-code and M-code programming
- Experience setting up and troubleshooting CNC machines
- Proven ability to successfully multi-task in a fast paced, high throughput environment
