In this exciting role as a Senior AI/Data Science Engineer

You will have responsibility for developing and programming integrated software algorithms to structure, analyze, and leverage data in product and systems applications in both structured and unstructured environments. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, data science skills, and domain knowledge in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

This includes responsibility to develop and communicate descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive insights/algorithms, and to use machine learning and statistical modeling techniques to improve product/system performance, quality, data management, and accuracy. The candidate must be self-driven, with a strong understanding of project management, the Software Development Lifecycle process, and strong technical and leadership skills.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develops and programs integrated software algorithms to structure, analyze, and leverage data in product and systems applications.
  • Communicates descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive insights/algorithms.
  • Uses machine learning and statistical modeling techniques such as natural language processing algorithms, decision trees, logistic regression, Bayesian analysis, and others to develop and evaluate algorithms.
  • Translates algorithms and technical specifications into code using current programming languages and technologies.
  • Completes programming, implements efficiencies, performs testing and debugging.
  • Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
  • Applies deep learning technologies to enable computers to visualize, learn, and respond to complex situations.
  • Adapts machine learning to areas such as virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, robotics, and other interactive products.
  • Works with large-scale computing frameworks, data analysis systems, and modeling environments.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math, Statistics, or Data Science.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or other languages/libraries/platforms and tools commonly used in AI/ML development.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental computer science concepts, software design best practices, and software development lifecycle.
  • Solid understanding of foundational machine learning concepts, including algorithms, deep learning, natural language processing, and other AI-related concepts.
  • At least 2 years of experience mentoring and leading teams developing, deploying, and monitoring AI and Machine Learning solutions.
  • Experienced in engaging with business partners, understanding business needs, translating needs into technical roadmaps, and managing the execution of technical roadmaps.
  • Demonstrated track record of data-driven decisions to make recommendations related to the technical roadmap and project execution.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Motivated to continuously improve processes, with a track record of driving improvements.
  • Strong experience working across a matrixed organization using written and verbal skills to communicate and understand cross-functional teams’ interactions and responsibilities.
  • Influence management skills: experience working collaboratively at all levels in a matrix environment to build and maintain relationships.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $133,600.00 - $200,400.00. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
