Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Windows Systems Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing Windows Server environments, as well as a solid understanding of virtualization technologies such as VMware and cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure. The Windows Systems Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments (including Windows Server 2016, 2019, and later).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems and document issues, resolutions, and procedures.
  • Perform routine server maintenance, including updates, patches, backups and other support as needed.
  • Manage and maintain virtual environments using VMware and Azure native virtual machines.
  • Monitor and optimize performance of virtual machines.
  • Create, configure, and deploy virtual machines and templates in both VMware and Azure.
  • Manage and support cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure including Teams messaging, Exchange, Azure Virtual Desktop, and other associated platforms.
  • Implement and maintain cloud-based solutions, virtual machines, and storage accounts.
  • Develop and maintain scripts for automation of administrative tasks leveraging PowerShell.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Windows Systems Administrator.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware and Microsoft Azure.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in managing Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Windows Policies, and Azure multi-factor authentication.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and related technologies.
  • Experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter and Azure.
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange and Exchange in Azure.
  • Experience with Microsoft M365 suite applications and solutions.
  • Solid understanding of multi-site networking including multi-subnet routing.
  • Familiarity with Azure services such as Virtual Machines, Azure Active Directory, and Azure Storage.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell functionality in above mentioned solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to work after hours or on weekends to perform maintenance or troubleshoot issues.
  • On-call rotation is required.
  • Remote work options may be available based on company policy.
