Process Engineer
Basic Scope/Purpose: (The job’s primary purpose or contribution to the department or organization.)
Endeavor to reduce process variation and improve process efficiency, create product drawings and provide information needed for quoting and manufacturing of new products. Leads process trials, process improvement initiatives, efforts to standardize tooling, run specifications, and procedures, and support efforts to improve production equipment.

  • Improving process efficiency, increasing throughput, reducing scrap, and reducing product set-up time.
  • Lead product and process development efforts by running trials and writing reports.
  • Support the production staff with process troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate effectively within a core engineering team, and across other functional areas.
  • Implement programs for monitoring and maintaining the major process inputs including, but not limited to; machinery and tooling, raw materials, processing conditions, process specifications, line set-ups, etc.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and initiatives.
  • Identify sources of process variability through DOE/6-Sigma and implement controls to minimize or eliminate variation.
  • Actively manage run specifications to establish and ensure consistency and to optimize throughput.
  • Support QA method development
  • Suggest Changes to product geometry and product performance that may improve process efficiency
  • Support product development by leading activities for trial runs of new products. This may include coordination with tooling engineering, production management, product engineering, etc.
  • Support the production staff with process troubleshooting.
  • Assist production operators when needed.
  • Drive activity needed to manage the life-cycle of products
  • Update and Analyze Bills of Materials and Product Routings
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to collect and compile all drawings and information needed to fully release new parts to production.
  • Manage the life-cycle of parts to production using the engineering control system.
  • Support product management by providing information and data as needed.
  • Support activities needed to qualify new materials, new suppliers, etc.
  • Support Quality and Applications Engineering with incoming cases
  • Promote Fenner Precision Polymers Values and Behaviors at all times.

  • Maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion and keep equipment in proper working condition.
Education and/or Relative Experience: (The level of education and/or experience needed to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job.)(Also show level of education needed for Career Progression)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Engineering or equivalent
  • 1-3 years related engineering experience
  • Education and/or training related to process and project engineering is required
  • Familiar with Aerospace Manufacturing
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations (The licenses, certificates or registrations that are required to perform the essential duties of this job.)
  • Must be willing to work towards a Six Sigma Green belt
  • Must be familiar with LEAN tools and willing to work towards a certification
