Job Summary
The Logistics and Distribution Automation Engineer II will play a pivotal role in sourcing, configuring, and ensuring the functionality of hardware systems within the L&D organization. This position will involve engaging with vendors and suppliers to ensure that the sourced hardware equipment meets the Terumo company's specifications and operational needs. Additionally, the Automation Engineer will provide project management oversight to ensure the timely and successful implementation of automation projects within our logistics and distribution operations.
Job Details/Responsibilities
Vendor and Supplier Engagement:
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to source hardware that meets Terumo Medical's technical and operational requirements.
- Evaluate and recommend hardware solutions based on performance, cost, and compatibility with existing systems.
- Oversee the configuration and testing of hardware to ensure it meets quality and functionality standards.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
- Lead the implementation of automation projects within the Logistics and Distribution Operations department.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including IT, Operations, and Quality Assurance, to ensure seamless integration of new systems.
- Monitor and report on the progress of automation projects, identifying and addressing any issues or delays.
- Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning of automation systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware configuration, functionality, and integration.
- Develop and maintain documentation for automation systems, including user manuals, configuration guides, and maintenance procedures.
- Identify opportunities for improving automation processes and systems within the logistics and distribution operations.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in automation technology.
- Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall operational performance.
- Follow all established Environmental Health & Safety and Quality System policies, programs, rules and practices, including but not limited to product and patient safety, the health and safety of all associates as well as the environment and community at large.
- Will be assigned other duties as required.
- Proficiency in relevant software & tools used in automation engineering & project management.
- Strong understanding of hardware sourcing, configuration, and functionality.
- Demonstrated knowledge with project management, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to collaborate cross functionally and lead automation projects.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Automation, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in automation engineering, preferably within logistics, distribution, or in the medical device or pharmaceutical industries.
- PMP certification preferred.
