Corporate Design Engineer

Position Overview

The Corporate Design Engineer will play a vital role within the Corporate Engineering Department, supporting all manufacturing facilities. This role will focus on providing engineering services and design support for a variety of systems, including Dairy Process Systems, Packaging Systems, Utility Systems, and Waste Treatment Systems.

The Corporate Design Engineer will be based at the Dallas, TX headquarters, but will support projects at the Garland, TX, Casa Grande, AZ, and Wooster, OH manufacturing facilities. The Engineer will report directly to the Corporate Design Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Engineering Design: Prepare conceptual and detailed engineering designs for manufacturing systems including P&IDs, PFDs, equipment layouts, equipment sizing, and specifications for packaging and process systems.
  2. System Designs: Design systems including Clean-in-Place (CIP), utility systems, and electrical systems.
  3. Project Management: Oversee equipment procurement and design for capital expansion, continuous improvement, and innovation projects. Manage project deliverables, cost estimations, and supplier evaluations.
  4. Standards Development: Create and maintain company-wide engineering standards for design and specification of manufacturing systems.
  5. Documentation: Develop detailed engineering drawings such as mechanical piping and electrical drawings.
  6. Collaboration: Support Project Engineers during installation and startup phases, providing guidance and expertise to ensure success.

Required Skills & Experience

  1. 7+ years of experience in an Engineering role, preferably in the Food & Beverage or Consumer Goods industries.
  2. Proficiency in P&ID and PFD design.
  3. Experience with packaging equipment design, material handling, and process equipment including pumps, valves, tanks, heat exchangers, etc.
  4. Knowledge of electrical systems, including wiring and controls architecture for manufacturing equipment.
  5. Proficient in AutoCAD for conceptual equipment layouts.
  6. Hands-on experience working within manufacturing plant environments.
  7. Excellent communication skills and professionalism when working with cross-functional teams and external vendors.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Open to 50% travel between facilities.
  3. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
