About the role:

The Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley is looking for a Chief Engineer who shares a passion for excellence and who infuses enthusiasm into everything they do. This position is an Assistant Division Head and eligible for an annual incentive based on performance. The Chief Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the hotel and physical building maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire and safety, HVAC refrigeration, paint and design. The primary responsibilities for this position are to ensure our guests experience the highest level of service, and the maintenance of the hotel reflects this luxurious Four Seasons experience.

What you will do:

  • Oversee Engineering team responsible for all engineering operations for interior/exterior facilities including plumbing, refrigeration, heating/cooling, painting, carpentry, structural, recycling, electrical, ground care and parking areas.
  • Responsible for all Engineering Operations for the entire Resort facilities including, but not limited to electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, HVAC, commercial kitchen equipment, valet laundry equipment, painting, carpentry, hardware and locks, pools, spas, water features, grounds and landscape, and energy management/green initiatives.
  • Responsible for Life/Fire safety systems, energy/green initiative systems and management of other engineering work necessary to maintain the property in an efficient condition to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and employees.
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules, policies and rules to ensure an efficient department.
  • Support and align team on project management to deliver new building and service product.
  • Compile a monthly consumption report on heat, light and power to include electricity, gas, steam, and water.
  • Control labor and operating expenses through effective planning, budgeting, purchasing decisions, policy making, and inventory control.
  • Work closely with the General Manager/Planning Committee to share strategic plans.
  • Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.

What you bring:

Education:

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Professional degree/certifications in an Engineering discipline, trade degree in a specific technical field relating to Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Civil Engineering) or CEOE – Certified Engineering Operations Executive from the Hotel and motel Hospitality Association.

Experience:

  • 5+ years previous management experience in hotel or building engineering operations.
  • Previous experience in the US is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, DDC controls, Building Management Systems, Preventive Maintenance Programs, CCTV systems, Fire Alarm/Life Safety Systems, local, state and federal regulations regarding property operations.
  • Must be flexible with schedule - Able to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, evening/overnight shifts.
  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to handle difficult situations and guests.
