Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Technical Advisor/ITS & Traffic Engineering to be based in Sacramento, CA. This position can also be a remote position in or near Modesto, CA.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Develop scope of services for ITS planning & design, traffic engineering studies & design, and emerging technology projects.
- Develop existing and new client relationships with a focus on DOT, cities, and municipal governments.
- Provide oversight and direction to project team members and subconsultants.
- Interact directly with clients at project meetings and ensure that all client project designs meet engineering standards.
- Coordinate design with other disciplines such as roadway, drainage, structures, geotechnical, water, and environment.
- Conduct and execute technical work in the field of traffic engineering, ITS, and emerging technology.
- Lead the development of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) packages based upon agency standards and specifications if/when needed.
- Work as part of a team and independently in evaluating and applying Traffic Engineering principles, standards, and criteria.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in traffic and transportation engineering.
- Experience to include 2 years of project management.
- Experience leading local agency traffic engineering department and project development in ITS and Traffic Engineering.
- Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate problems and solutions clearly and simply to clients, leadership, and technical staff.
- Excellent written, graphical, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in traffic signal, ITS, lighting, signing and pavement marking design, Plan, Specifications, and Estimate Development.
- Experience in Traffic Signal coordination, Adaptive Signal, ATSPM.
- Experience in ITS design, traffic signal systems, systems engineering, and ITS planning/architecture development.
- Experience and/or knowledge in traffic operational analysis including traffic projections, analysis, and simulation using Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, and VISSIM.
- Strong problem solving, analytical, and research skills.
Additional Information:
Offered rate of compensation (California) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $122,820.39 - $227,217.73.
