Rockstar is seeking a Senior Data Quality and Testing Engineer to join a team focused on building a cutting-edge game analytics platform and tools to better understand our players and enhance their experience in our games. This is a full-time permanent position based out of Rockstar’s unique game development studios in either New York, NY, Carlsbad, CA, or Andover, MA.


The ideal candidate will be skilled in testing and vetting complex ingestion and transformation processes with an emphasis on accuracy and scalability. In collaboration with other test engineers, data engineers, machine learning engineers, and software engineers, the candidate will empower the team of analysts and data scientists to deliver data-driven insights and applications to company stakeholders.


What We Do


  • The Rockstar Analytics team provides insights and actionable results to a wide variety of stakeholders across the organization in support of their decision making.
  • We are currently adding team members to help build out our platform and service capabilities to fully serve our customers and partners teams more extensively.

Responsibilities


  • Build and maintain a configuration driven data quality framework that will ensure data accuracy and reliability across multiple systems.
  • Create, implement, and update testing strategies for systems that ingest data in realtime.
  • Create and review testing plans with engineering staff and stakeholders.
  • Translate stakeholder expectations/requirements and data contracts into automated tests.
  • Build and maintain an automated testing suite that will be integrated with our TeamCity/Octopus based CI/CD pipeline.
  • Architect and build a test data suite that will gracefully update based on upstream data changes and can handle a wide berth of testing criteria.
  • Work with engineering staff to establish rigorous integration, functional, and regression testing.
  • Establish ways to mock upstream systems for use in testing pipelines.
  • Help foster a testing first and quality focused culture.

Qualifications


  • 5+ years of work experience in enterprise-level software engineering.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, and Java.
  • Solid understanding of automated CI/CD pipelines and promotion strategies.
  • Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases (MSSQL, Postgres, MySQL, Snowflake, Cassandra, SparkSQL).
  • Experience with Docker and Docker Swarm/Kubernetes.
  • Experience building automated testing pipelines.
  • Experience building data quality pipelines for various data products including data lakes and warehouses.
  • Experience building and maintaining enterprise grade data quality frameworks.
  • Experience with on-prem datacenters and cloud-based ecosystems.
  • Experience establishing testing plans and strategies.
  • Experience creating and maintaining testing and expected result datasets.

  • Ability to manage numerous projects concurrently and strategically, prioritizing when necessary.
  • A strong penchant for collaborating with team members of various technical skill levels.
  • A strong penchant for optimization problems and a strong eye for scaling concerns.
  • A strong penchant for documentation.
  • A drive for not just accepting technology marketing, but truly understanding how new technologies actually work.

  • Experience with Azure.
  • Experience with the .Net stack.
  • Ability to develop in C# and Javascript.
  • Familiarity with the Hadoop ecosystem and related tooling (Spark, HDFS, Databricks).
  • Familiarity with developing in a Linux environment.
  • Comfort with Apache Airflow.
  • Experience with online game service APIs, particularly Xbox Live, Sony NP, Steam, and Epic Games.
  • Knowledge of the video game industry.

The pay range for this position in San Diego at the start of employment is expected to be between the range below per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. San Diego Pay Range


$121,400—$141,600 USD
