Software Engineering Manager, Backend
Backbone is looking for a software engineering manager. A software engineering manager is responsible for the people, processes, and products across the Backbone app and Playbackbone.com. You will work with other backend team members, Data Science, Product, Design, Marketing, and many others to turn ideas into reality. You will be critical to driving delivery on initiatives that will provide the best experience to users who want to get the best mobile game controller.
You will help influence the product roadmap for all software initiatives. Help the engineering teams use modern technologies and drive the technical roadmap to ensure Backbone has superb engineering excellence. Enjoy your job at one of our offices in Seattle or the Bay area.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, providing guidance and support for their professional growth.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to define and refine project requirements and deliverables, including product, design, and hardware.
- Assist in recruiting and onboarding new team members, ensuring a high level of talent within the team.
- Research new technologies and tooling to help improve our web and e-commerce stack
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in software development, with a strong emphasis on developing large-scale and responsive Web applications.
- Strong technical background with expertise in backend and API architectures and web frontend technologies.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong project management abilities, including experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to make data-driven decisions and problem-solving skills.

- You have shipped high-throughput APIs on a global scale.
