Staff Cloud Network Engineer

Primary Job Responsibilities: As a Cloud Network Engineer, you will be part of the Cloud Network Engineering team responsible for building highly scalable and reliable SDN solutions for eBay Cloud Services, which is one of the biggest OpenStack-based private clouds in the world. This is a hands-on network engineering role within a unique cloud environment. The successful candidate will have a maniacal focus on automation and will constantly consider how to avoid solving the same problem more than once.

Principal Responsibilities

1. Proactively analyze the network environments you are responsible for to look for and resolve potential problems before they occur.
2. Respond to incidents to troubleshoot and resolve problems within the SDN environment.
3. Design and implement SDN solutions for cloud infrastructure, and participate in implementing changes to the environment.
4. Develop automation, processes, and tools to make deploying and supporting the infrastructure simpler, more reliable, and faster.

Experience:

1. Working knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, and routing protocols.
2. Experience with protocol analysis, network analyzers, packet capture devices, or Wireshark.
3. Familiarity with UNIX and Windows servers, VMware, and their networking capabilities and requirements.
4. Strong interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members, communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Requirements:

1. Scripting and/or development expertise.
2. Experience with cloud-scale networks.
3. Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, LDAP, and other core network-based services.
4. OpenStack/Neutron experience.

Education:

1. BA/BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
2. 2 or more years of network engineering experience.
3. Knowledge of network security concepts, firewalls, and load balancers.
