Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with technical support centers in South East Asia and East Africa. We provide program management and facilities engineering services worldwide in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service missions, along with other US federal agencies.

Position: Junior Structural Engineer

The Junior Structural Engineer will play a pivotal role in providing engineering support, managing assigned design projects, and ensuring the completion of design work while participating in planning phases to minimize overall costs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform professional engineering and project management work to protect life, safety, health, and property.
  • Provide civil or structural professional consultations on design interfaces, repairs, designs, and construction.
  • Review designs, plans, and specifications to ensure structural safety.
  • Review engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure design excellence and compliance.
  • Provide expertise for construction, renovations, and improvements to facilities.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance on maintenance, repair, renovation, and construction work.
  • Assist in analyzing critical path schedules for design and construction projects.
  • Prepare, review, and approve project documents including designs, estimates, specifications, and bid packages.
  • Administer acquisition documents for design, construction, renovation, and repair.
  • Ensure designs and specifications meet structural requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
  • 3+ years of relevant construction experience, particularly in government projects.
  • Able to read and interpret acquisition policy, regulations, and directives.
  • Experienced in assessing and responding to Requests for Information (RFI).
  • Able to provide clear guidance to lower-level acquisition personnel.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Understanding of structural drawings and basic engineering principles.
  • Knowledgeable of Construction Safety regulations (EM 385-1-1, OSHA, etc.).
