We are currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer - Buildings Design to join our Commercial & Institutional - Architectural & Structural Team at our office in either Rochester, NY; Syracuse, NY; or Colonie, NY.

YOUR IMPACT

The Senior Structural Engineer - Buildings Design, a key role at CHA, leads the technical execution of projects within his/her discipline and provides expert consultation in one or more areas of the respective field of engineering. This key role provides guidance, mentorship, and technical review of work completed by junior level staff as well as provides technical development of proposals and external presentations (i.e., clients, public, regulatory agency, etc.).

The Senior Structural Engineer - Buildings Design resolves highly complex technical issues and continuously monitors the progress and performance on a project to ensure efficient production and uncover potential problems. The individual in this role recognizes technical discrepancies in analytical results and makes appropriate corrections following standard procedures and recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of design.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required, Master's Degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer License (PE) required.
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive engineering experience is required.
  • Expert knowledge of the respective engineering discipline(s) with a proven ability to practically apply best practices.
  • Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.).
  • Understands QA/QC procedures and basic business practices and laws related to engineering.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and effectively work in a collaborative environment; proven ability to lead a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences.
  • Proficiency with MS Office software required.
  • Active role in a professional engineering society/organization preferred.
  • Ability to travel (~10% of the time).
