ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Designs core application frameworks for complex projects that can be reused across the organization.
2. Create technical specification documents based on the business requirements.
3. Develop code that meets the client's coding standards and guidelines.
4. Work in Agile or Waterfall development environment and should be able to respond to changes quickly.
5. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to application development teams throughout all the phases of the SDLC.
6. Defines development tasks, assigns tasks to development team, and monitors and reports status of development tasks.
7. Mentors and trains less-experienced software development staff.
8. Ensures that software meets or exceeds specified standards and end-user requirements.
9. Support QA testing and UAT. Work with the QA/user team to address the defects logged on the integrated code.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's Degree in information technology (i.e. Computer Science or Computer Information Science with programming concentration) or significant training and coursework in core technologies.
2. 4+ years of overall development experience with at least 3 years of experience in Java/J2EE technology.
3. Strong object-oriented design skills and programming experience.
4. Solid understanding of Java/J2EE.
5. Experience developing and architecting object-oriented applications in Java.
6. Experience using one or more of the following frameworks: Spring, Hibernate, Struts, JSF.
7. Experience with web application servers (Tomcat/WebSphere/WebLogic).
8. Experience with Service Oriented Architecture and both SOAP and REST based web services.
9. Experience with writing SQL Queries.
10. Demonstrated proficiency in designing distributed applications involving multiple operating systems, languages and vendor middleware.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Experience with Guidewire Software Suite (specifically ClaimCenter) using GOSU is preferred.
2. Experience with the IBM AS/400 platform and RPGILE programming is a plus.
3. Insurance specialty Claims experience is a plus.
