Job Requirements / Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineering Technician with expertise in drilling operations and regulatory compliance, particularly in the Oklahoma market. This individual will work closely with engineering, field operations, and regulatory teams to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant drilling and completion practices. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical knowledge to support daily drilling operations, data management, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.


Key Responsibilities:

Safety and Operational Excellence :

  • Advocate for safety by ensuring drilling operations follow safety protocols and best practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to safely and efficiently meet project objectives.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of projects with a focus on improving safety outcomes.

Operations Support :

  • Provide technical support to operations, assisting with daily monitoring and troubleshooting of drilling, completions and production activities.
  • Assist in preparing detailed procedures and participate in daily operations to meet well objectives.
  • Work closely with onsite personnel to help with reporting, data collection and data management.

Regulatory Compliance :

  • Assist in preparing and submitting government permits related to drilling operations, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and manage regulatory requirements from the Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC) and other governing bodies such, as the Bureau of Land Management (BLM/BIA).
  • Ensure that all required reports, including drilling, casing, and completion data, are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Help third parties on companies' behalf with air permitting and SPCC plans.

Data Management & Reporting :

  • Maintain databases to ensure accurate tracking of drilling operations and regulatory filings.
  • Analyze data and provide reports to management and engineering teams to optimize operations.
  • Use data analytics and software tools (e.g., Spotfire, WellEz, SQL) to support operations decision-making and improve well performance.
  • Help build wellbore diagrams and maintain proper documentation during the well life cycle.

Project Support & Vendor Management :

  • Work with the asset team to help in planning, track accruals, and ensure project budget alignment.
  • Assist in developing relationships with vendors and suppliers, evaluating tenders and bids for operations support services.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration :

  • Work with engineers to identify and apply lessons from past drilling operations to promote continuous improvement.
  • Participate in internal and external benchmarking studies to adopt best practices and enhance operational performance.
  • Engage in technical discussions and peer reviews to ensure best practices are implemented across operations.
  • Assist in building dashboards to help in project oversight.
  • Provide mentorship and technical support to team members and promote a “one-team” environment.


Experience/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in unconventional plays within Oklahoma and Texas.
  • Knowledge of OCC regulations and federal regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience working with operators or service companies.
  • 5+ years of experience in oil and gas drilling operations, with a focus on regulatory compliance and technical support.
  • Proficiency in well reporting systems, Spotfire, and database management.
  • Strong understanding of drilling operations, wellbore design, and drilling performance optimization.
  • Education: Associate degree or higher in Engineering Technology, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field is preferred.


Skills :

  • Ability to manage and analyze drilling data using industry software (e.g., WellView, Spotfire).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing multiple projects and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and with external regulatory bodies.
