Job Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Senior Software Engineer to join our team. We build mission-critical systems for the Department of Defense (DoD) and other commercial customers. We’re looking for experienced Python and C++ engineers who are familiar with robotics development and cloud services. This position is held at Ft. Belvoir, with the opportunity of a mixed work from home schedule.

Responsibilities:

• Develop high-quality, scalable applications.
• Act as a subject matter expert for Python and C++.
• Code and test software based upon software specifications and designs.
• Analyze and study complex system requirements.
• Design software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain software development.
• Use sound software engineering principles to ensure that developed code is modifiable, efficient, reliable, understandable, and fault tolerant.
• Provide software process management and control throughout the coding portion of the software development process.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• 3+ years of Python.
• 3+ years of C++.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, etc.).
• Strong understanding of networks and familiarity with socket programming.
• Experience with Docker.
• Experience with project management tools (Jira, Rally, etc.).
• Strong understanding of Linux environments.
• Must be a US citizen.
• Must pass a background check and drug screening.

Desired Experience:

• Experience with robotics.
• Experience with robotics simulation.
• Familiarity with C#.
• Familiarity with Java.
• Hardware development experience.

The proposed salary range is reflective across all Sherpa 6 locations, years of experience, and skill levels. Salary negotiations will be based on a host of factors including but not limited to your geographic location, prior experience, relevant skills, education, and certifications.
