We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project/System Engineer within our Advanced Programs group. Under limited supervision, this Project Engineer will perform systems engineering and technical management of development projects, including final design, prototype fabrication and flight test of new GA-ASI, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). In addition, this System Engineer may support technical development of competitive proposals for existing and new DoD customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports operation of engineering systems and documents any problems.
  • Devises new approaches to resolve unusual or complex engineering problems.
  • Troubleshoot conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material requirements.
  • Understands digital models and can contribute to development of behavioral and/or functional capabilities at the component, subsystem, and system level.
  • Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.
  • May represent the organization as the prime technical contact on small contracts or single component projects.
  • Provides direction to design or technical staff and will lead a team of moderately experienced professional staff.
  • Responsible for the execution and implementation of the engineering process: design, development, integration, test and performance verification.
  • Evaluates the integration of the engineering solution within the overall engineering environment; and ensures that appropriate documentation, testing, maintenance, and engineering updates are completed.
  • Manages program schedule and resource needs for a cross-functional engineering team.
  • Leads SRR, PDR, CDR and Test and Operation Readiness reviews.
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Provides supporting engineers and performs staff management for project engineers supporting multiple strategic thrusts within Advanced Programs.
  • Develops and executes technology maturation plans for technologies key to platform development and enhancement projects.
  • Supports program capture and business development activities including attendance of industry days, generating of white papers, proposal technical volumes and basis of estimates and BOMs for proposal cost volumes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or PhD in Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive Engineering experience as follows; fourteen or more years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, twelve or more years of experience with a Master's degree, or ten or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent Engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones, with some experience in project leadership.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
  • Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
  • Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead a team of moderately experienced professional employees on single component projects.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • Multi-tasking team player with a hands-on approach; customer-focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.

Salary: $128,130 - $229,358
