Who we are:
At Applied Network Solutions (ANS), we bring together some of the most curious minds in networking and cybersecurity. ANS was founded to disrupt the status quo . For over 20 years, our team provides expertise in network, system engineering and both offensive and defensive cybersecurity operations.
What we do:
Our vision is for a future in which talent and customers alike come to ANS because of our reputation for delivering technical excellence, solving our nation’s toughest challenges and our ability to exceed expectations.
Why ANS:
At ANS we value the integrity of your work. We are looking for the right person to plan, analyze, design, develop, test, secure, integrate, implement, operate, and maintain the custom solutions that ANS delivers. Together, let’s ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter .
The Problem:
Cloud, IoT devices, BYOD, ICS/SCADA systems, legacy systems, containerization, virtualization, and serverless functions are just a few examples of how our traditional network paradigms are being challenged and expanded to meet the requirements of our partners at home and abroad. With these new technologies, our adversaries are finding new techniques to gain access into our networks to deceive, degrade, deny, disrupt, and destroy our systems and the critical functions those systems provide. As a Cyber Security Engineer, we work on the leading edge to secure our systems through vulnerability assessments and to hunt for the presence of our adversaries through network traffic and host analysis. To assist us in these efforts we use security information and event management (SIEM) systems utilizing emerging technologies and the latest advancements in software and hardware to meet the challenges of hunting the advance persistent threats from nation state actors.
The ANSwer:
The cyber landscape is constantly advancing and being a self-starter that can learn and adapt is critical to success in this field. Maintaining a willingness to grow and learn the new technologies, tactics, techniques, and procedures keeps us in the forefront of the fight against our adversaries.
The lines between software development and cyber security are becoming blurry as DevSecOps practices become industry standards. Having a background in scripting and programming allows for more opportunities within these emerging cross-functional environments.
Our operators have a functional understanding of networking, operating systems, and cyber vulnerability assessments. Within those disciplines, we specialize in a specific area within those fields to become the SME our customers rely on.
Requirements:
Our Cyber Security Engineers are generally required to maintain at least two certifications at a minimum. A DoD 8570 IAT Level three certification (usually CompTIA’s Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+ CE) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)), and a role specialization certification such as Cisco Routing & Switching CCNA for network traffic detection specialist, a Linux/Windows certification for host analysis specialist, or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) for vulnerability assessors. Additional specific certifications may be required on a role-by-role basis and most importantly, an active TS/SCI Clearance.
