MAU is hiring a Controls and Automation Engineer for MasterBrand in Ferdinand, IN. As a Controls and Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing technology systems to support business operations and maximize productivity, minimizing costing effects, and developing efficient and fast deliverables. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Shift Information:

  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM


Required Education and Experience:

  • 4-6 years of engineering and/or leadership experience in manufacturing preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing systems automation, process control systems, or software development in a manufacturing environment preferred

  • Deep understanding of key manufacturing processes to develop and implement effective system strategies
  • Skilled in diagnosing and resolving both on-site and remote application-related issues
  • Proficient in computer skills with the ability to quickly adapt to new software and applications
  • Experienced in project management, including initiating, planning, and executing project work
  • Expertise in developing user requirements and functional specifications for manufacturing solutions
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills for leadership in a matrix organization without direct authority
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to create clear, concise technical documentation
  • Proven success in implementing new equipment launches, including robotic integration into existing processes
  • In-depth technology industry knowledge, including system coding and programming languages
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and change management abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Requirements:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred
  • Lean or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification is a plus


Essential Functions:

  • Provide operational support, including maintenance, fault diagnosis, installation, and modification of field instruments, process control and safety systems, Fire & Gas systems, and other electrical/electronic equipment.
  • Support automated control systems for manufacturing, refining robot movement programs, and collaborating with vendors and design teams.
  • Lead and support controls and automation projects to enhance system performance.
  • Design technology systems to optimize business operations, improve productivity, and minimize costs.
  • Define functional requirements through stakeholder interviews, documentation analysis, and workflow process mapping (Value Stream Maps).
  • Provide expert guidance to develop technical requirements for complex manufacturing system solutions.
  • Execute manufacturing system projects from development through implementation.
  • Generate manufacturing-based reports and dashboards for performance tracking.
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills for innovative solutions.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for manufacturing systems within the organization.
  • Manage technical deliverables throughout the entire project lifecycle, including onsite support for system startups.
  • Proactively collaborate with stakeholders to determine the optimal technical approach for system solutions.
  • Engage with internal customers to gather plant-centric requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge in a rapidly evolving systems and technology environment.
  • Apply project management methodologies and adhere to project standards.
  • Report on project progress related to scope, schedule, cost, and performance metrics.
  • Assist in problem-solving and defining future opportunities for ongoing projects.
  • Support and maintain existing manufacturing system solutions.
  • Conduct operational studies and organizational investigations, recommending process and procedural improvements where necessary.

  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed
