A Day in the Life

This Sr. Engineering Director role within the Surgical Operating plays a key strategic role within the cross-functional Business Unit team and reports indirectly to the General Manager, overseeing all quality-related activities in the organization. Key responsibilities include leading pre-market quality while collaborating closely with Post Market Quality, Quality Systems, and Enterprise quality functions. You will be tasked with making quality decisions during new product development and guiding core team members to ensure timely delivery of quality objectives aligned with business goals.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plans, directs and implements all aspects of the company's design and development of new medical device products or software systems.
  2. May develop, evaluate, implement and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standards pertaining to materials, techniques, or company products.
  3. Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies.
  4. Guides the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes or products.
  5. Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to market release.
  6. Manages feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended.
  7. Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development.
  8. Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.
  9. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Must have:

Requires a Bachelor's degree and a combined minimum 15 years of engineering, quality and/or medical device experience with 10+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum 13 years prior engineering, quality and/or medical device experience, minimum of 10 years of managerial experience.

  • Strong background in quality engineering

  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and achieve results through others.
  • Strong cross-organizational collaboration skills; ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $212,800.00 - $319,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.
