- Ensure that all PSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met.
- Create, check, and/or review Purchase Technical Specifications for assigned equipment and systems. Provide feedback to design partner if applicable.
- Review and approve basic and detail design (functional design) drawings, diagrams, arrangements, and calculations for accuracy against contract specifications, rules and regulations, and general check for mistakes and consistency. Identify potential installation or operational issues. Provide feedback to design partner for revision.
- Review maker (vendor) furnished drawings and manuals. Check for accuracy against specifications, rules and regulations, missing/inaccurate scope of supply or information, potential installation or operational issues. Provide feedback to the maker for revision.
- Interface with Owner, Class, and other competent authorities to resolve technical issues.
- Review and approve production installation drawings, manufacturing drawings, and bills of material. Check for accuracy against basic/detail design, yard and project standards, and 3D model. Identify any missing equipment or parts, interferences, production related or other foreseen issues. Interface with design partner for revision and track status.
- Participate and provide input to build method planning process. Interface with Planning and Production teams to determine correct timing and discipline for installation of all parts and equipment in assigned systems or areas. Coordinate with design partner and planning to move material when needed.
- Participate in weekly “Prep Team” cross-functional meetings. Present installation drawings to meeting participants, discuss, review, and record any requested changes by production or planning.
- Manage all drawing and bill of material releases and revisions for assigned areas including upload into document management and ERP systems.
- Write Scope of Work documents to support tender of subcontracted labor.
- Prepare Production Work Packages for use by Planning and Production teams according to assigned schedule. Create Installation Procedures were needed to explain complex installation processes.
- Create and maintain Dock Trial and Sea Trial test procedures.
- Participate in dock testing and possibly Sea Trials. Document any issued and revise procedures accordingly. Assist with technical issues as needed.
- Provide field support for assigned systems and areas. Respond to issues by going onboard or to the problem and examining the issue. Interface with production supervisors or workers as appropriate.
- Create Design Change Notices as required. Create drawings, sketches, or markups in support of them using 2D or 3D CAD. Interface with Design Partner to have drawings revised if needed.
- Document material non-conformances or other issues with vendor equipment for feedback through purchasing department. Enter purchase requisitions as appropriate.
- Maintain working knowledge and monitor development of classification and regulatory rules and requirements pertaining to assigned systems and ship areas of responsibility.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPEREIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering is preferred. Candidates with a technical diploma and 5+ years’ experience in ship design and construction may also be considered.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in shipbuilding, construction, or manufacturing.
- Proficiency with MS Office and basic CAD systems such as AutoCAD.
- Knowledge/experience concerning basic and detail ship design.
- Experience with piping systems and machinery equipment.
- Knowledge/experience concerning modern shipbuilding practices is a plus.
- Experience with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Steel Vessel Rules, IMO Regulations, and US Coast Guard Requirements is a plus.
- Experience with 3D modeling software, experience with Tribon or Aveva Marine is a plus.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Projector and scheduling software such as MS Project or Primavera is a plus.
- International experience or familiarity with European and/or Asian Shipbuilding Standards is a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time, salaried position. Monday through Friday with flexible start time. Occasional (about 5%) international and domestic travel may be required.
