AVP, Network Engineering

The AVP, Network Engineering is responsible for the architecture, design, and operations of all networking and telecom technologies. This role manages and maintains the organizational effectiveness and efficiency of an onshore-offshore team that supports all networking technologies on a 24×7 basis.

This position requires a solid understanding of the technologies, general IT and strategy, and the ability to provide guidance and direction to ensure overall 99.9% uptime for a large global network.

Deep technical knowledge of core technologies is essential, along with the capability to be hands-on when required. Certifications in core technologies are a benefit.

Job Objectives:

1. Manage Architecture/Engineering teamwork intake and distribution.
2. Manage operations teamwork load execution and operational excellence.
3. Participate in the design and deployment of all network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN/security and load balancing solutions.
4. Responsible for level 3 troubleshooting.
5. Oversee maintenance of all network monitoring and reporting systems.
6. Oversee documentation related to all network systems.
7. Manage all network infrastructure licensing and support/maintenance contracts.
8. Perform administrative tasks pertaining to team time entry and status reporting.
9. Perform level 3 network maintenance/changes.
10. Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
11. Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
12. Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
13. Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team.
14. Manage all new site build/delivery inclusive of hardware, connectivity, infrastructure cabling, and power.
15. Manage hardware, software, and connectivity vendors.

Requirements:

Minimum 10 years of domain experience, CCNP certified.

Technical Skills:

1. Excellent network troubleshooting skills.
2. Excellent communication skills, able to interact with customers and the offshore team.
3. Troubleshoot routing loops.
4. Troubleshoot asymmetric routing & STP loop issues.
5. Troubleshoot load balancer issues for application flow.
6. Experience with applications such as SAP, Citrix, Portal, etc.
7. Experience with SDWAN-related issues.
8. Analyze outputs of all tools and make recommendations.
9. Implement operational changes & coordinate with project teams for project-related changes.
10. Configure/troubleshoot Cisco ASA, IPS.
11. Configure/troubleshoot Cisco ISE.
12. Configure/troubleshoot wireless, Cisco AnyConnect.
13. Configure/troubleshoot routing protocols – EIGRP, OSPF, BGP.
14. Configure/troubleshoot LAN switching – VLAN, VTP, STP, EtherChannel.
15. Quality of service configuration.
16. Configure/troubleshoot WAN – MPLS, Metro-E.
17. Configure/troubleshoot TCP/IP protocol suite.
18. Configure/troubleshoot application protocols – HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SMTP, SNMP, SSL, etc.
19. Configure/troubleshoot network security – IPSec/SSL VPN, AAA architecture, TACACS+, RADIUS.
20. Experience with Cisco Catalyst & Nexus 9K/7K series of switches.
21. Configure/troubleshoot Cisco routers, 3900, 4400 series.
22. Configure/troubleshoot Cisco IOS software.
23. Configure/troubleshoot WAN acceleration/optimization.
24. Configure/troubleshoot application load balancers.
25. Experience with next-gen firewalls – Cisco, Fortinet.
26. Experience with firewall cloud services – Zscaler, Umbrella.
27. SDWAN experience – Silverpeak/Velo Cloud.
28. Experience with network segmentation – Trustsec, Tetration or Illumio.
29. AWS, GCP, Azure cloud experience a plus.
