Job Description

The successful candidate will be part of a team charged to design and develop middle tier applications and services using Visual Studio 2013, .NET 4.5 and the C# programming language. Perform unit testing and integration testing of said applications. Interface directly with staff members of Development, Product Management, Project Management, and Quality Assurance.

Primary responsibilities:

  1. Analyze and develop applications and services using Visual Studio 2013, C#, .NET 4.5 and TFS.
  2. Design, develop, document and implement new functionality, as well as enhancements, modifications, and corrections to existing software.
  3. Develop unit tests, integration tests and oversee their execution.
  4. Create documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
  5. Build and maintain relationships with global and virtual teams on software development or support issues.
  6. Work as part of a development team and establish close working relationships with stakeholders, quality assurance, architects, as well as management.
  7. Identify opportunities for further enhancements and refinements to standards and processes.
  8. Champion improvements in process/procedures.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or other technical discipline; or equivalent work experience.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in developing and supporting web services or windows services for large applications.
  3. Minimum of 5 years of experience using C# and the .NET framework (versions 3.5, 4.5).
  4. Proficient in object-oriented design concepts, patterns and implementation details.
  5. Proficient in defining remote communication methodologies such as web services, WCF, windows services.
  6. Proficient in best practices for service development and design patterns.
  7. Experience with performance tuning .NET applications.
  8. Experience with Microsoft Entity Framework and Fluent API is desirable.
  9. Experience with Microsoft TPL or Task Parallelism is desirable.
  10. Experience with PowerShell scripting is a bonus.
  11. Experience with WPF and the MVVM design pattern is a bonus.
  12. Experience with .NET application security is a bonus.
  13. Working knowledge of SQL Server, stored procedures, database design.
  14. Strong technical, estimating, design and analytical aptitude.
  15. Proven ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  16. Consistently able to assess and evaluate problems and manage risk to the project when recommending change.
  17. In-depth knowledge of the software development life cycle required.
  18. Experience working on an Agile team is required.
  19. Ability to develop code that follows established coding guidelines.
  20. Strong communication skills with proven ability to present complex ideas and document in a clear and concise way.
  21. Quick learner; self-starter, detailed and thorough.
  22. Multitasking between designs, development, and defect resolution.

Additional Information

  • Good communication skills are a big priority.
  • Duration: 12 months.
  • Must be a self-starter and willing to take limited direction from senior staff.
  • Must be present in the office during work hours with ability to work from home in very limited scenarios.
  • Laptop provided. This is not a telecommuting position.
  • Must be comfortable accurately and regularly reporting progress to the team.
