WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a field service engineer, you will be a snow and ice specialist. This position will support customers and products Muncie Power manufactures and/or distributes and provide onsite technical expertise to all Muncie Power personnel and purchasers of MPP products with either verbal or hands-on engineering assistance. This position also provides training and troubleshooting support for the end user of Muncie Power products.
- Utilizing engineering and fluid power principles, this position will be tasked to diagnose and repair complex electro-hydraulic systems and related components
- Work cross-functionally across the business to provide onsite technical support
- Analyze hydraulic systems, make system adjustments, correct product issues, and make application recommendations for existing and prospective customers as required
- Provide support to outside sales team whenever technical expertise is required
- Provide training to customers and end users on the proper installation and operation of hydraulic systems and related components
- Assist with product testing and validation as required
- Maintain detailed documentation of field service efforts and record calls into the service tracking database
- Assist warranty team with product analysis and provide input into potential modes of product failures
- Communicate reoccurring product issues to the engineering team and suppliers as necessary
- Upload software updates to electro-hydraulic controllers when required.
- Travel as required; approximately 30% in-office and 70% travel
- Support product application specialists with troubleshooting calls when in the office
- Associate degree (AS) in an engineering-related field or equivalent experience in fluid power-related discipline
- IFPS Hydraulic Specialist Certification Preferred
- Must be knowledgeable of fluid power principles and familiar with electro-hydraulic systems and related components
- Familiar with and able to service hydraulic equipment and components
- Can read and interpret technical documentation, diagrams, and schematics
- Strong communication skills and ability to exercise tact and diplomacy
- Familiarity with using test instrumentation (data acquisition, multimeters, oscilloscopes, flow meters, vacuum gages, etc.)
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Familiar with 2D CAD/3D modeling software
- Ability to read and follow safety rules, maintenance instructions, and service manuals
- Ability to write field service reports
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
