Embedded Software Engineer

What You Will Do:

As an Embedded Software Engineer at Netgroup Engineering, you will play a key role in releasing hardware and software design solutions for electronic components in Vehicle Functions or Body Controls applicable to Volvo Group's North American truck products. This involves working closely with global technology development teams and Tier-1 suppliers to track platform development, resolve integration issues, and deliver high-quality electronic control units (ECUs) for truck systems.


Your responsibilities include:

  • Releasing hardware and software design solutions for Electronic Control Units (ECUs) related to body functions and body builder-specific functions.
  • Collaborating with global technology development teams to monitor platform development and progress.
  • Coordinating with Tier-1 suppliers to ensure smooth component development and integration.
  • Managing time-plan activities and milestones, ensuring project alignment with the Level 4 time plan.
  • Working with component installations for Body ECUs and supporting the Truck Integration Team in resolving any component-related issues.
  • Responding to defect reports, following the defect report process for resolution, and documenting software configurations for various variants.
  • Using Canalyzer tools to analyze log files, troubleshoot, and resolve component-related issues.
  • Downloading and testing software using factory, engineering, and service tools, ensuring minimum smoke tests are conducted before delivering solutions to the integration teams.
  • Participating in PI Planning, breaking down features into stories and tasks, and ensuring timely follow-up throughout the sprints.
  • Hands-on work with trucks to troubleshoot and debug issues as necessary.



Minimum Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in product development or engineering services, preferably in the automotive or trucking industry.

Additional Skills Required

  • Experience with Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and software/hardware integration.
  • Proficiency in Canalyzer tools for analyzing log files and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of software release processes and version management.
  • Familiarity with truck electronic systems and components.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within global teams.
  • Hands-on experience with testing and debugging on trucks or vehicle systems is a plus.
  • Understanding of Agile processes and methodologies, with experience in PI Planning and sprint follow-ups.
