Position Summary
The Project Engineer supports the North Little Rock Facility and is a key role in the overall success of the company by planning, developing, and coordinating engineering activities that support facility expansion, modernization, and continuous improvement. Overseeing various engineering projects, processes, timelines and making any necessary adjustments to ensure successful completion. Provides engineering resources for attainment of the corporate strategic plan, goals and objectives. Monitors and analyzes completed projects to ensure initiative is generating the anticipated return. The Project Engineer will serve in an operational leadership team capacity.
Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinates all customer and internal engineering changes.
  • Develops strategies to upgrade the facility and equipment for improvement to efficiency, food and people safety, quality environmental compliance, and reliability.
  • Coordinate and direct all projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
  • Provides technical expertise in all areas of production as it relates to equipment, process and design for engineering projects.
  • Leads projects through suppliers and internally involving the sanitary design, installation, modification or renovation of equipment and facilities. Monitors project timelines and advises appropriate management on status.
  • Ensures engineering validation of new equipment start-up, plant commissioning and process improvements.
  • Adheres to all contractor contracts, plant policies, and government regulations fairly and consistently.
  • Collaborates with all levels of plant management to assure plant goals are supported as needed to deliver facility goals including quality, cost, safety, efficiency, sanitation, productivity, and morale.
  • Follow-up on permanent corrective action plans to resolve any outstanding issues related to quality, production, equipment, tooling, customers, and production controls.
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes, quality and cost to maintain profitability and competitiveness.
  • Excellent analytical skills including the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, process, change and improve design and equipment.
  • Strong presentation, written and verbal skills.
  • Mechanical design fundamentals (CAD).
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Project).
  • Must be able to keep all plant drawings up to current with use of AutoCAD.
Education/Training :
Required:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical field
Experience/Knowledge/Abilities:
Required:
  • 3-5 years project management experience
  • Equipment installation and start up experience
  • Excellent professional, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent project management, analytical and judgement skills
  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards
  • Must have ability to communicate up and down the chain of command to clearly update needs and goals for projects
  • Ability to lead a team and work jointly across departments
  • Troubleshoots and resolves very complex problems
  • Ability to travel between locations(Atlanta, GA Area) and to suppliers as needed ( ~10%)
Preferred:
  • 5-8 years of related experience with some supervisory experience
  • Working knowledge of FDA and environmental food manufacturing standards.
  • Food manufacturing experience
  • Ammonia refrigeration experience
  • Six sigma lean training and experience
  • Solid Works
  • PMP Certification
