Salary: $110,000 - $160,000 per year

Job Details:

Our company, a leading player in the manufacturing industry, is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Data Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining architectures such as databases and large-scale processing systems, ensuring our data remains secure, accessible, and optimized. This is a full-time, permanent position offering the opportunity to work with a dedicated team of professionals in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design, construct, install, test, and maintain highly scalable data management systems.
  2. Collaborate with data architects, modelers, and IT team members on project goals.
  3. Develop set processes for data mining, data modeling, and data production.
  4. Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design.
  5. Ensure systems meet business requirements and industry practices.
  6. Build high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models, and proof of concepts.
  7. Research opportunities for data acquisition and new uses for existing data.
  8. Develop data set processes for data modeling, mining, and production.
  9. Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality.
  10. Employ a variety of languages and tools to marry systems together.
  11. Install and update disaster recovery procedures.

Qualifications:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Data Engineer role, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
  3. Experience with data warehouse such as Redshift, BigQuery or equivalent.
  4. Proven track record with data architectures including relational databases, and SQL.
  5. Knowledge of big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
  6. Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, etc.
  7. Experience with AWS cloud services: EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift.
  8. Experience with stream-processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming, etc.
  9. Proficiency in scripting languages: Python, Java, Scala, etc.
  10. Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
  11. Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop).
  12. Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude.
  13. Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds.
  14. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  15. Strong attention to detail, analytical acumen, and ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
