We're seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Designer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and manufacturing leadership of complex Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) in support of ARL's research offices. You'll collaborate with our technical staff on conceptual design of complex electrical systems, and will be expected to provide advanced knowledge and guidance regarding electrical topics including power electronics, RF, and/or high speed digital. Additionally, you'll be expected to:
- Utilize PCB software in the creation of complex schematics, PCBs, assemblies, library parts, bills of materials, and other required documentation
- Drive material selection, packaging, tolerance analysis, manufacturing support, and cost projections efforts
- Provide work status updates and lead or present in design review meetings with senior staff
- Advance the team through mentoring and technical leadership of junior staff within the department, including performance appraisals and direct supervision of staff
- Estimate incoming work requests, assign work, and facilitate tracking to completion
- Develop or evaluate & introduce new software tools and work processes to improve department capabilities in design, reporting, and efficiency of operation
- Build relationships with suppliers and customers in support of efforts to improve the department's Design for Manufacturability (DfM) / Design for Assembly (DfA) efforts
The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of electronic circuits and components in analog and digital design, as well as experience working with PCB software and advanced Electronics industry knowledge from PCB design through manufacturing. Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Configuration Management (CM) is preferred but not required. This position will be filled as a level 4 or level 5 depending upon the successful candidate's education and experience.
These positions are required to be 100% on-site, but options may exist for a hybrid work from office and work from home scenario dependent upon research requirements.
