SUMMARY
As an Applications Engineer with Havtech, you will provide technical support for the bidding process through the pricing/estimation of the cost of commercial HVAC equipment. These projects are completed to develop cost estimates in support of our sales team and clients. This position requires a unique combination of attention to detail to ensure pricing is completed accurately, communication skills to ensure the necessary related information is gathered, and problem-solving/time management skills to accomplish objectives in a given time frame. This position is a part of the Estimating Department which functions as a team to support our sales team and customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other functions may be assigned.
- Responsible for the cost estimation of HVAC equipment and systems related to assigned bid opportunities.
- Utilizes information on scope of work and drawings, plans, and specifications to estimate all costs.
- Prepares proposal and pricing breakdowns while evaluating equipment savings/costs.
- Assembles bid files, including all development information, in customer relationship management (CRM) system to prepare estimate.
- Documents work by maintaining files for each job including, but not limited to, internal and external correspondence to mitigate project risk.
- Uses computer skills to facilitate improvement of estimating systems and selection of software.
- Develops relationships with represented manufacturers and vendors to gain relevant information.
- Communicates effectively with contacts related to assigned bids to gather necessary information.
- Identifies customer needs to facilitate proposal and pricing summary generation.
- Simultaneously handles a diverse number of projects and bid opportunities with associated time-sensitive deadlines, with tact, cooperation, and persistence.
- Flexibility to work outside normal work hours, as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS include the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction, or other related areas.
- 2+ years of experience in the HVAC industry performing estimating projects or related work required.
- Familiarity with HVAC Systems and/or Temperature Controls preferred.
- Must have basic PC experience in a Windows environment, working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Web-enabled applications, and intermediate level experience with Excel.
- Must possess excellent math aptitude, superior follow-up skills, and ability to work well under pressure.
- Collaborative attitude, thrive in a team-based environment while supporting the department as an individual contributor.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and teamwork skills are required.
