Software Engineer II

7-Eleven is looking for a Software Engineer joining a multidisciplinary team of engineers who create digital products that millions of 7-Eleven customers experience every day. We are seeking seasoned full-stack developers who can perform hands-on software development around React.js Web App, REST APIs, batch processes, reporting jobs using cutting-edge open-source frameworks and cloud-native microservices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Expert in development and architectural best practices for responsive web apps/sites (using HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, JQuery, PHP, and SASS) as well as frameworks (including React and Next) and their interactions with CMSs (such as Django CMS).
• Design APIs, develop shippable code, documentation, and unit test new features for digital products.
• Work with fellow API Developers, Team Leads, Architects to deliver features through the creation of reusable RESTful APIs.
• Collaborate with Quality, Product and Cloud Engineering teams to keep digital assets fully functional, secure, and up to date with business needs.
• Perform pair programming, effectively communicate ideas with the team, assist in systems integration, performance testing, and product releases.
• Implement policies, roles, data access controls, monitoring events, and resolve system and data issues for continuous functioning of APIs.
• Mentor junior developers through work product review, help with design, development tools, and development best practices.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience with frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js).
• 3+ years of experience with backend frameworks (Node.js, Spring Framework, etc.).
• 3+ years of experience with database design (SQL and NoSQL).
• 3+ years of experience with cloud services (Virtual Machines, Serverless Functions, Blob Storage).
• Familiarity with containerized application tooling and deployments (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Stays on the leading edge of software development tools and best practices.
• Self-directed with a start-up entrepreneur mindset.
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science/Engineering/Math, or relevant experience.
