Firehawk Aerospace is a propulsion-focused aerospace and defense company based in the Dallas, TX area.

Responsibilities

  1. Be a part of a rapid R&D team engaged in the development/testing of solid/hybrid rocket systems
  2. Generate or modify CAD models, component drawings, assembly drawings, work orders
  3. Support development, design, and production of rocket engines/motors
  4. Work with analysis/fluids/manufacturing/testing teams to iterate designs
  5. Make project decisions based on technical merit, cost, and schedule metrics
  6. Analyze and interpret test data to improve and qualify propulsion systems meeting customer specifications and/or research objectives
  7. Conduct performance analysis and optimization of propulsion systems
  8. Collaborate with other engineers and project managers to meet project goals
  9. Ensure that all propulsion systems and processes comply with governmental regulations and safety standards

Basic Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or related field
  2. Experience with rocket engine/motor development and testing
  3. 2+ years of professional experience in mechanical design
  4. 2+ years of experience with CREO (preferred), SOLIDWORKS, NX, or CATIA
  5. Experience with PLM software
  6. Strong understanding of structural analysis and failure modes of mechanical systems
  7. Capability to manage project efforts and solve complex problems
  8. Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced R&D environment
  9. Self-motivate with strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
  10. Focus on safety, reliability, innovation, efficiency, teamwork
  11. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships
  12. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote)
  13. U.S. Citizenship
  14. Ability to lift 25 pounds and work on test/flight hardware

Must be willing to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in aerospace engineering/mechanical engineering or related field
  2. Professional experience designing/testing SRMs
  3. 4+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and analysis
  4. 4+ years of experience with CREO and Windchill
  5. Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance analysis, design for manufacturability
  6. 2+ years of Windchill experience
  7. 2+ years of project management experience
  8. Experience with ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS Fluent
  9. General understanding of manufacturing processes (welding, machining, heat treating)
  10. General system level knowledge of mechanical and testing propulsion hardware
  11. Active or previous security clearance
