Senior Show EngineerEmployment Type: Full TimeDate Posted: 9/20/2024Location: Sunnyvale, CAPay Range: $150000.00 - $160000.00 per YearJob Number: JO-2409-2509Primary FunctionThe Senior Show Engineer plays a pivotal role in designing, maintaining, and operating the global Live Production platform and infrastructure. This position is crucial for ensuring seamless live broadcasts and robust media infrastructure across 7+ studio sites and broadcast venues. Collaborate closely with Staff Engineers and the Production team to execute technical workflows and uphold studio standards. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting live operations for internal and external customers, managing broadcast platforms, and driving the technical vision of our Studio Engineering team.PAY TRANSPARENCYRange: $150k - $165kDuties & ResponsibilitiesPlatform Delivery:Direct and manage engineering needs for live broadcasts, including infrastructure maintenance and monitoring broadcast standards across multiple studiosFunction as the second engineering escalation point for assigned shows and eventsMaintain studio uptime for events and shows, supporting live operators and producersCommunicate and manage changes in the studio environmentMedia Workflows:Document and implement studio standards and media infrastructure to meet show deliverablesDevelop and manage operational runbooks for different show types and train engineers accordinglyStudio Builds:Execute venue and studio builds in alignment with provided plans and media team requirementsAssists with documentation and training for the wider teamTechnical Focus:Manage the lifecycle of broadcast hardware, including setup and configuration of studio systems for productionsTroubleshoot and manage live encodes from remote events, studio shoots, and production spacesMaintain accurate system documentation, including as-built and workflow detailsGather data and assess the effectiveness of the broadcast platformProvide direct support for live productions, including off-site events (travel may be required)Implement and manage REMI workflows and efficient live video workflows, encoding procedures, and streaming protocolsServe as the escalation point for system and technical event issuesParticipate in global team activities and support special projectsOther duties as assignedSkills & QualificationsAn overall understanding of the live program production process is necessary and a strong sense of urgency in solving customer requests to ensure timely resolution is criticalFamiliarity with emerging IP media technologies such as SMPTE 2022-6, ST2110, AES-67, Dante audio, and NMOS IS-04 05 06Proficiency in network IP protocols, including AVC/HEVC, RTMPS, RIST, JPEG-2000, H264/5, SRT, NDI, and stream analyticsOperational knowledge of video storage solutions and cloud-based broadcast infrastructureAbility to manage and troubleshoot broadcast hardware and live encodesStrong documentation skills for maintaining system as-builts, workflows, and general documentationAbility to gather data, measure platform effectiveness, and implement improvements.Effective communication skills for interacting with end users, business owners, developers, systems engineers, and executivesAbility to translate complex technical needs into clear customer outcomesProactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in high-pressure environmentsStrong collaborative skills, with experience working closely with cross-functional teams, including technical producers, broadcast engineers, and account managersAbility to facilitate effective teamwork and maintain positive working relationships with various stakeholders involved in live streaming projectsEducation & Experience8+ years of hands-on experience in live production and/or studio production environments, demonstrating a strong background in project managementExtensive experience in AV and Broadcast systems engineering with a focus on live video deliveryTechnical Project Management or similar credentials, demonstrating advanced project management skillsBachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Broadcast Technology, IT, Media Production, Audio/Video Engineering, Communications, or a related disciplineTo ApplyUse the link at the bottom of this page to apply.
