What You Will Do:

  • Lead the architecture and design of our database systems, focusing on performance optimization and scalability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into efficient database solutions.
  • Implement best practices for data modeling, indexing, and query optimization to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Design and implement data migration strategies to seamlessly transition to new database technologies or architectures.
  • Proactively monitor database health and performance, identifying and addressing bottlenecks and issues as they arise.
  • Drive the adoption of cloud-based database solutions, particularly Microsoft Azure SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI), leveraging its capabilities for scalability and manageability.
  • Research and evaluate new database technologies and tools, recommending adoption where appropriate to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior database administrators and developers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure data protection and regulatory compliance across database systems.
  • Identify risks, perform risk analysis, effectively manage risks; proactively raise prioritization and scheduling tradeoff decisions, escalating and identifying alternate options as appropriate.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing, ensuring the resilience and availability of critical database systems.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Extensive experience as a database architect, with a focus on performance optimization and scalability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Azure, particularly Azure SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI), with hands-on experience in designing and implementing database solutions on the platform.
  • Strong expertise in SQL Server and T-SQL programming, with a deep understanding of database internals and query optimization techniques.
  • Experience with other database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues.
  • Proven track record of implementing best practices for data modeling, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with data migration tools and strategies, particularly in transitioning to cloud-based database solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus.
  • A metrics driven, data analysis and pragmatic mindset with experience in addressing software delivery roadblocks, conducting root cause analysis, risk assessments and implementing new process.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility and adaptability with strong negotiation and prioritization skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A proactive and self-motivated mindset with a passion for staying current with emerging database technologies and trends.
  • Must be fully authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are currently unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa.
