Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to support our multi-site operations in Los Alamitos, CA. The ideal candidate brings extensive engineering expertise, a passion for continuous improvement , and project management skills . This role is essential to driving operational excellence by managing projects across various manufacturing sites, collaborating with multiple departments, and delivering measurable results.

Definition of Success

The Project Engineer will optimize efficiency and profitability by designing, managing, and executing engineering projects to completion. Success includes developing detailed project scopes, assigning responsibilities, and collaborating across functions to meet project milestones on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage engineering projects , controlling scope, schedule, budget, and safety standards.
  • Research, assess, and recommend equipment alternatives to enhance manufacturing operations.
  • Become a subject matter expert (SME) on automated food processing equipment such as conveyors, mixers, and case packers.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and plant engineers to troubleshoot and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) .
  • Develop expertise in manufacturing processes and optimize product lines by understanding ingredients, formulas, and workflows .
  • Identify project phases and assign personnel while reviewing bids from contractors.
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders , including status updates for executive leadership.
  • Manage internal and external schedules to align with contracts, budgets, and production plans.
  • Ensure compliance with technical specifications and customer requirements.
  • Prepare and present status reports , recommending actions based on project data and trends.
  • Drive cost reductions and enhance production efficiencies through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor project schedules , resolve issues quickly, and maintain progress towards goals.
  • Control costs by managing contractor agreements and approving expenditures.
  • Contribute to the engineering team's success by achieving tangible results aligned with business objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards .

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 2 to 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (7+ years for senior-level candidates).
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles (electrical, pneumatic, mechanical systems).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S principles is preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Analytical and mathematical skills with excellent communication and organizational abilities .
