This is a highly visible and impactful role in the Diabetes manufacturing networks and overall, to the Diabetes business. The Engineering Program Manager will also serve as a strategic partner to Northridge Manufacturing Leadership. Main responsibility includes overseeing governance of the program management office portfolio (PMO) for execution on medium to large scale programs/projects for commercial product lines within manufacturing plant. The candidate will own the overall portfolio of projects related to manufacturing and oversee the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, cross functional team, and management in relation to schedule, budget, resource allocation, risk management, issue resolution and compliance to internal quality requirements.

The Engineering Program Manager coaches, and reviews the work of a team of technical professionals and/or vendors who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments. Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to ask critical questions without being the subject matter expert. Influences across functions and businesses while balancing divergent objectives to gain cooperation of other parties on program objectives and execution plans. The role also includes directly project managing impactful medium-large scale operation projects. Employ DMAIC, Kaizen events, Gemba walks, and other appropriate methodologies to define problem statements, conduct voice of the customer/business, establish current state, identify waste, propose future state, manage stakeholders, and utilize change management to ensure effective adoption of improvements by end users. This is an in-person full-time position and may require travel less than 10% of the time.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Plans, directs and implements all aspects of the company's design and development of new medical device products or software systems.
  • May develop, evaluate, implement and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standards pertaining to materials, techniques, or company products.
  • Guides the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes or products.
  • Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to market release.
  • Manages feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended.
  • Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development.
  • Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.
  • Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant Engineering experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant Engineering experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in medical device manufacturing or manufacturing in highly regulated industry/environment.
  • Green Belt Certified- Black Belt Certified a plus.
  • PMP certified.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and technical competency.
  • Prior knowledge and experience value stream mapping and lean manufacturing.
  • Prior knowledge and experience in AutoCAD/Solidworks in drafting plant layouts, manufacturing fixtures, engineering drawings, automation etc.
  • Demonstrated communication skills in presenting information effectively and collaborating with different cross functional groups to achieve work objectives.

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive plan. The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
