This Position:

As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Cloud development at gWorks, you are at the forefront of designing, refining, and expanding our cloud-native product capabilities. Your role is crucial in driving the technological innovation that supports our mission to empower thousands of small local governments across the United States. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and a strong background in software development.

Your contributions extend beyond coding; you are a visionary who guides the architectural integrity and implementation quality of our cloud-native solutions. Through collaboration with a dynamic team of engineers, QA specialists, project managers, and product owners, you ensure our software products are executed with precision, adhering to the highest standards of design and coding practices.

The Expectation:

  • Design and Development: Employ your extensive software engineering skills to lead cloud development projects, ensuring high quality, efficiency, and adherence to best practices.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with internal teams and outsourced resources to advance product quality, security, and development, maintaining clear communication and effective coordination.
  • Performance Optimization: Guarantee high availability and optimal performance of our cloud solutions, implementing improvements and ensuring scalability.
  • Lifecycle Management: Actively participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from planning and requirements definition through development, testing, and QA.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and address system issues, implement fixes, and document solutions to prevent future problems.
  • Legacy Migration: Assist in transitioning and migrating legacy applications to modern SaaS products, supporting the evolution of our cloud-native platform.

The successful Sr Cloud Engineer will have:

Skills & Experience:

  • Technical Expertise: More than 5 years of experience in software development, with proficiency in C#.NET MVC, Angular, and cloud-native microservices architectures.
  • Cloud Platform Proficiency: Significant experience with AWS cloud services; familiarity with Azure is a plus.
  • Agile Development: Demonstrated ability in scalable cloud-based development using Agile CI/CD methodologies.
  • Team Collaboration: Experience working with near-shore and off-shore contractors, remote employees, and fostering a strong team culture.
  • Communication: Outstanding communication and organizational abilities, capable of managing large projects and contributing to a cohesive team environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the foresight to address issues before they impact productivity.
  • Adaptability: Versatility in programming languages, technical stacks, and tools is highly regarded.

Work Location and Arrangement:

gWorks is a hybrid work environment, and preference will be given to candidates who are local to the Omaha, Nebraska area. However, highly qualified candidates who reside outside of the local area and are able to work remotely will also be considered.

  • For Omaha-Based Candidates: A hybrid work model, balancing remote work with in-office collaboration.
  • For Remote Candidates: Full support for remote work from any US location.

Compensation Range: $110,000 - $135,000
