Job Description Summary:

We are looking for a Staff Mobile Engineer to make the PayPal Native Consumer Apps the best digital payment applications in the industry worldwide. You have an established track record breaking down complex problems into smaller, composable parts. You have an in-depth knowledge of the Android platform, you love coding, and you are proud of delivering high quality innovative mobile applications. You are able to clearly communicate complex software architecture to project stakeholders and product owners. You drive the quality up and the risk down. You are an expert at applying platform features and best practices and sharing that knowledge to help the team grow.

Job Description:

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Work with Product Managers, Designers, Engineering Leaders to translate complex business requirements into actionable units of work that team members can understand and implement.
  • Design, prototype and implement solutions for our native apps by using the latest Android technologies and frameworks.
  • Quality and performance are your key values and you apply them to everything you do. You will look at opportunities to improve our app and provide an excellent user experience to all our users worldwide.
  • You will mentor developers and make our teams grow over time not only in the immediate team, but across PayPal.

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of mobile development experience for commercial global native apps.
  • 5+ years proven experience as a tech lead or architect of a mobile team.
  • Up to date in-depth hands-on knowledge and experience with the latest and greatest technologies in the Android ecosystem.
  • Knowledge of multi-threaded, asynchronous code.
  • Knowledge of design patterns such as MVC and MVVM.
  • B.S. or equivalent degree in Computer Science (MS preferred for this role).
  • A team player who values collaboration, innovation, and inclusion.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interest in the payments industry.
