Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary :

Responsible for design and development of the Mechanical Automotive Controls for Tracked vehicles, from concept development through prototype fabrication and test. This includes mechanisms for Steering, Acceleration, and Braking along with ensuring the Human Interface requirements are met.

Responsibilities :

• Manage the efforts of major component suppliers to ensure on-time development of required subsystems
• Develop subsystem and component specifications derived from system level requirements
• Prepare subsystem performance analysis related to Mechanical Controls
• Coordinate design, development, and integration of Mechanical Automotive Controls (such as Steering column and Brake Mechanism), working with assigned design staff as well as other multi-disciplinary functions
• Organize and present design development status to management and customers.
• Create or update the System model (Physical, Functional, and Behavior) in Cameo.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
• 3-5 years of relevant experience working with Mechanical Automotive Controls. (e.g. Steering Column and mechanisms, Brake Pedal and mechanisms, along with Human Factors Engineering)
• Ability to perform fundamental actions within CAD based design systems, Creo preferred.
• Ability to Coordinate design development, including the coordination of designers assigned to project development.
• Complete design studies, tolerance stack-ups, layout, drawings, calculations, weight estimates and provide supporting documentation.
• Perform performance modeling and fundamental calculations on Mechanical Automotive Control Mechanisms.
