DescriptionAre you seeking a new and challenging position supporting a complex Program for the Warfighter? Well, look no further! This is an exciting time to contribute to a mission-critical program with lasting impactful results. Leidos is currently looking to add a Signal Software Engineer to a growing task. The SSWE will translate system requirements into software requirements, perform software design, and implement software applications and features in an agile environment. The candidate must have strong Java, JavaScript, and/or C++ skills. The Signals Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances signal processing software (e.g. detectors, demodulators, protocol processors). Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.A candidate must have an active TS/SCI and Polygraph to be considered for the role.Primary Responsibilities:Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirementsDesign and code new software or modify existing software to add new featuresDebug existing software and correct defectsDescribe various signal processing techniquesIdentify various digital modulation techniquesIntegrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environmentsProvide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standardsDevelop/implement algorithms to meet system performance and functional standardsAssist with developing and executing test procedures for software componentsWrite/review software and system documentationAnalyze systems flow, data usage and work processesInvestigate problem areasServe as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on a particular projectModify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performanceDesign, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of designUse signal processing algorithms to convert a signalsDesign signal processing software based on sparse documentationLead one or more software development teams and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular projectDesign/implement complex signal processing algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraintsPerform quality control on productsConfer with system engineers and software engineers to derive software requirement and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfacesDevelop and maintain software framework to enable efficient processing of dataImplement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standardsServe as the technical lead of multiple software development teamsSelect the software development process in coordination with the customer and system engineeringRecommend new technologies and processes for complex software projectsEnsure quality control of all developed and modified softwareWrite software using C++, Java; suggest other languages as needed to solve problemsAdvanced understanding of the Linux operating systemIdentify problems in any part of an RF collection and processing system, to include hardware, software, and databasesDelegate programming and testing responsibilities to one or more teams and monitor their performanceBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
