Working on API - Submitting individual trades for mutual funds, stocks, equities, fixed incomes - eventually other things. Highly resilient systems - built to take high transactions.
Designing , tuning, working on systems that need to squeeze in all the performance at they can but also with a high amount of traffic. Be able to solve things in a different way rather than working on a system that doesn't have 100 transactions a day. - Technical Problem Space
Other words - Working on current architecture to see how to get this system to process more customers quickly, temporary solution's. Then they will build on that framework.
