Are you ready to learn from the best?Semester: Spring 2025Position Summary & Purpose: Development and upgrades of products, materials, processes, or equipment. Under direct supervision/guidance, compiles, analyzes and reports operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products, processes, or materials.Duties & Responsibilities:Perform the design and development engineering on various size (small to major) research and development projects or sales ordersSpecify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specificationsConduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systemsDevelop and test models of alternative designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modificationReview new and existing writings of manuals and documentation, adding supplemental materials as requiredCollaborate with shop assembly ensuring product is built to design specificationsSupport design aspects of CI machine control upgrades. Determine designs and details required for mounting of equipment, including assembly instructionCreate assemblies/models/details as needed to support team and provide instruction and data for ManufacturingQualifications:Working toward an Associates or Bachelor degree in Mechanical EngineeringFully capable of performing all levels of tasks needed to complete a project or sales order, including all aspects of 3D CADMust be successful in performing development engineering for assigned product lines including shears, conveyors, press brakes, powdered metal presses, lasers and material handling systemsAdopt and promote lean practices in all activities, considering the elimination of unnecessary resources for any goal other than the creation of value for the end customerPhysical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.Physical demands: Employee occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to touch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
