We are partnering with a manufacturing organization who specializes in complex milling and turning, providing precision quality machining for short or long run production, or for creating prototypes. The Director of Engineering will play a crucial role in driving process improvements, increasing throughput, advancing technology, and mentoring talent within our manufacturing operations. This position will oversee various aspects of sales operations, production, and interdepartmental management to ensure efficiency and quality throughout the organization.
Location: On site, Naugatuck, CT.

Background Requirements
- Extensive experience in CNC programming and general manufacturing, with an emphasis on precision components in aerospace and semi-conductor markets with tolerances as tight as +/- .0001, with multiple datum true position features.
- Proven track record in process improvement and technology advancement within a precision component manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of sales operations, production, and interdepartmental collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, drive organizational change, and achieve business objectives.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to present project updates and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee quoting, contract review, and routing processes to ensure compliance with customer quality requirements and company standards.
- Collaborate with customers to expedite parts, create Manufacturing Flows (Gantt charts), and participate in calls as needed.
- Work with customers on part manufacturability during pre-sale operations.
- Request and implement manufacturing changes to work orders in-house.
- Assist personnel with fixture design to ensure most efficient processing and equipment utilization.
- Maintain and manage configuration processes.
- Support programming of CNC milling, turning, CMM, and wires as necessary.
- Address and resolve manufacturing issues on the shop floor.
- Collaborate with the quality team to identify root causes and implement preventative measures for nonconforming parts.
- Drive the reprocessing of all existing production jobs to maximize the utilization of current equipment and lights-out manufacturing capabilities.
- Lead process improvement initiatives, provide supporting documentation, demonstrating P&L impact by cost, volume, and price levers, and present project updates during monthly management meetings.
- Collaborate with sales, operations, and finance to create an annual CapEx budget and recommend equipment that maximizes ROI through increased throughput and cost reduction.
