Our services include engineering, information and technology support, application development and support, network operations, network surveillance, facilities maintenance, procurement and warehousing.

JOB TITLE: Software Engineer
DIVISION: Application Development and Support

JOB SUMMARY:
The Software Engineer has a comprehensive understanding of application development methodologies. The Software Engineer’s focus is on providing first level support for web applications and APIs. The Software Engineer assists in developing tests and using automated testing frameworks to integrate with the automated software build process. The SE is responsible for performing application maintenance to correct software defects that have been identified by the client or as a result of an upgrade or maintenance. They update job knowledge by continually learning new programming techniques and languages; participating in education opportunities; reading professional publications. Provides progress update reports and manages any issue or technical difficulties on a regular basis.

This position reports to: Manager, Application Development and Support. There are no direct reports to this position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Software Engineer is accountable for the following items:

  • Providing first line support for all existing software and interfaces
  • Assists other engineers in resolving problems with software products and/or company software systems
  • Implement updates and maintenance to existing software and interfaces
  • Assists Sr. Software Engineers in implementing data migration tasks between various systems
  • Assists with developing tests and test-automation suites for company APIs and web applications
  • Assists in building out infrastructure to host web applications and APIs using deployment tools
  • Identifies software efficiencies and new technologies collaborating with the Senior Software Engineers
  • Tracking incidents and reports potential bug fix opportunities to the development backlog
  • Ensuring the security of the company’s facilities against any and all unsolicited and unauthorized access
  • Developing and maintaining appropriate and current documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments on the software environment(s), and all necessary support and maintenance tasks
  • Protects operations by keeping information confidential
  • Provide on-call support (24x7) per team schedule, providing resolution for software and interfaces developed by the ADS team.
  • Arrange schedule and focus efforts toward the expeditious resolution of all problems.
  • Adhering to the Company’s policies and procedures, including the EEO guidelines and safety at all times

  • Performing any miscellaneous departmental duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in a technical field or 4 years equivalent experience– Required
  • 1 year experience in developing applications – Required
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server - Required

  • Familiar with HTML/CSS/Javascript and PHP and similar languages and frameworks

  • Familiar with development tools such as JIRA, Bitbucket, Bamboo
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record at all times
  • Acceptable background check, including legal, education, credit, physical and drug.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS MAY INCLUDE:
Walking, kneeling, standing, stooping, sitting, driving, hearing, talking, vision, and use of hands and fingers. Light lifting of 20 lbs. is occasionally needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The Software Engineer is a full-time exempt position. The regular business hours 40 hours a week but may vary to accommodate departmental needs.
  • The Software Engineer works in an automated business office environment with business office equipment including telephones, personal computers, copy machines and FAX equipment.
  • The Software Engineer is required to drive on the job as needed and is subject to regular MVR checks. He/she must maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets Company standards for an insurable driver at all times. Any time these conditions are not met, he/she must not drive on the job and must immediately report it to their supervisor.
