What role you will play in our team

We are seeking qualified and experienced individuals to provide flow assurance engineering technical support and expertise to its development projects and production operations. The candidate would be part of the Flow Assurance Engineering team in ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering located in Spring, Texas, which provides corporate-wide technical and advisory support for both design and operation of ExxonMobil’s diverse global portfolio of assets, new developments, and low-carbon solutions initiatives.

What you will do

  • Develop, specify, and apply Flow Assurance design and operations strategies for a wide variety of solids & fluid flow challenges over a diverse range of activities, developments, and operations – i.e. large-scale deepwater capital projects, R&D programs, unconventional developments, midstream/downstream pipelines, and low carbon solutions opportunities.
  • Provide sound recommendations and context related to various flow assurance support efforts from concept evaluation, detailed engineering, commissioning and startup, and full life-cycle operations for oil and gas systems.
  • Broadly interface with different disciplines (e.g. Marine, Risers, Pipelines, Subsea, Facilities, Reservoir, Operations) to align on work scopes and work products; interface with suppliers, contractors, and other 3rd parties to ensure work products are aligned with ExxonMobil expectations.
  • Fluid characterization with thermodynamic simulators; Steady-state and transient modeling for single and multi-phase production and injection systems; Oil field chemistry specification, management, and optimization; Design and operational guidance on hydrate and other solids management; Startup & commissioning of new assets; Assist in surveillance and optimization of mature assets; Pigging program consulting.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers in the Flow Assurance discipline.
  • Steward and revise Flow Assurance design/selection guides, software, and tools.
  • Sustain and promote ExxonMobil’s safety culture.

About you

Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Petroleum Engineering
  • 3-15 years’ relevant engineering work experience, with expertise in Flow Assurance
  • Demonstrated work experience as a flow assurance engineer or process engineer on an oil or gas field development project or in oil or gas field and facility operations
  • Demonstrated work experience in development of multicomponent fluid characterizations using a thermodynamic or process simulator, such as PVTSIM, HYSYS, or equivalent
  • Formal training and demonstrated experience with transient multiphase flow modeling
  • Experience in prediction of hydrate formation and development of preventative and remediative operational strategies
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally
  • Excellent verbal communication, presentation, and writing skills
