Job Description

Location:
Overland Park, Kansas, United States

Building the people that build the world.
With platforms in HVAC and Detection and Measurement, SPX Technologies builds innovative solutions that enable a safer, more efficient, sustainable world. Through our RiSE talent development framework, we Reach, Identify, Strengthen, and Engage our employees to support them in their continued development.

As part of HVAC Cooling, SPX Cooling Technologies is a leader in high quality industrial HVAC equipment used to cool large facilities like hospitals, data centers, and power plants. With cooling towers, fans, and refrigeration units, companies rely on brands like Marley, Recold, and SGS to provide comfort and mission critical and industrial cooling solutions.

EDP Overview
The SPX Engineering Development Program (EDP) is created around the principle of hiring the best and most talented people, and then providing the necessary means for them to constantly learn, be challenged, mentored, and successful. The EDP program has 2 available paths: a product design path with product design and development assignments and an operations path with assignments on manufacturing and supply chain. The EDP program is the premier entry point in SPX for either product design engineers or manufacturing engineers who have recently earned a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or other related engineering disciplines.

The incumbent for this role would be following the Product Design Path and would have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in the area of Civil/Structural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

During the course of the two-year development program, the engineer will be given four distinct developmental assignments and should take part in advanced professional training and/or related certification(s) that will be made available by SPX. The EDP program begins in June or January of each year and positions are available in numerous locations throughout SPX.

The EDP rotations provide significant exposure to the business unit's senior management team and engineering leaders, in addition to company executives and corporate leaders. Rotations are designed around a business unit's specific needs along with objectives unique to each engineer. These engineering assignment rotations, which are typically 6 months in duration, will provide a "big picture" view of the SPX business at the same time offering hands-on, real experiences that aim to sharpen your engineering skills in multiple technical areas.

Rotations may include:

  1. Lean Manufacturing
  2. Supply Chain
  3. Quality Engineering
  4. Line / Cell Supervision
  5. Process Engineering
  6. Production and Inventory
  7. Project Management / Engineering
  8. Product Development
  9. Product Design
  10. Applications Engineering
  11. Product Management / Marketing

Objectives of Engineering Rotations
The EDP rotations and developmental assignments will be established to help ensure that each participating engineer is:

  1. Given significant and increasingly challenging professional assignments as the rotation progresses
  2. Provided distinct work assignments with specific, measurable goals outlined in a detailed rotation plan
  3. Professionally prepared to add value in their designated assignment at program's completion
  4. Able to fully embrace the organization's culture and environment while embodying the SPX Mission, Vision and Values
  5. Assigned a mentor at the beginning of their assignments who will be responsible for assisting in their development during the program
  6. Provided regular intervals of formal and informal feedback throughout each assignment to ensure continued growth

  2. Self-motivation
  3. Teamwork / Business Partnering

  4. Willingness to travel to or potentially reside in different geographic locations during the program
  5. Strong analytical and communication skills, technical knowledge, mathematical skills, and problem-solving skills
