Summary:

Under direct supervision, designs precision electromechanical switch components and assembly tooling components that meet customer requirements. Supports all product R&D from ideation to commercialization.

Typical Responsibilities:

1. Performs CAD design following Dow-Key design guidelines and best practices.
2. Executes finite element simulations to identify potential failures and make design changes accordingly.
3. Builds and tests prototypes, analyzing data and interpreting results.
4. Identifies problems in the design and develops improvements.
5. Performs theoretical thermal and structural stress analysis, and tolerance analysis on new or modified products to meet customer specifications.
6. Assists with project costing and schedule development.
7. Examines cost reduction opportunities.
8. Conducts design reviews and supports documentation release processes.
9. Defines and monitors environmental tests and evaluates test results.
10. Provides technical supervision during assembly and test processes and generates support documents as needed.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

1. Minimum four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering.
2. At least two to five years of proven working experience in electromechanical systems design.
3. Experience using SolidWorks Modeling and Simulation software effectively in a professional setting.
4. Knowledge of mathematical computing and engineering analysis tools.
5. Proficiency with GD&T.
6. Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
7. Technical writing skills.
8. Highly analytical mind, with exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Supervision: Does not supervise anyone.

Physical Requirements:

1. Able to read documents and computer screens.
2. Able to move around an office building and up stairs.
3. Able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
4. Able to type on a computer keyboard.
5. Able to communicate through a telephone.
6. Able to communicate with co-workers.

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Salary Range: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00
