Role Summary

This is a Senior Staff DevOps Engineer to lead our DevOps initiatives and drive the implementation of best practices in software delivery and provide organizational vision. Set technical direction for tools, optimize process, and enable continuous delivery in DevOps and Software engineering functions. Architect, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines. Develop tools & automation solutions for workflow and continuous testing.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead and set technical direction for tools, build, release and test automation.
  • Identify and set new technical directions to improve development process and fulfill company / group vision.
  • Architect, develop and manage performant and efficient build system.
  • Work with cross-functional teams and convert business requirements into engineering requirements.
  • Completely own the build system and champion the integrity of the build system.
  • Identify the requirements and develop tools to enhance developer productivity.
  • Be responsible for developing tools & automation solutions for CICD workflow, continuous testing, software updates.
  • Develop tools, plug-ins and solutions for CICD workflow using industry standard solutions such as Jenkins, Gitlab CI and Azure Devops.
  • Analyze requirements and help onboard new components and software stacks.
  • Integrate third-party and open-source software in the build system.
  • Consistently drive down the build times, maintain and manage SLA.
  • Define and own release process.
  • Be a dynamic cross-functional technical leader enabling other dependent teams (like QA, Integration and Program management)

Years of Experience

  • 10+ years in senior technical leadership roles (as tech lead, architect) in DevOps and Software engineering functions.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, or a related field

Desired Education

  • Master's degree in Business, Technology, or a related field

Skills:

  • Strong experience in Android development environment and Android build system.
  • Strong experience in software packaging and distribution.
  • Strong experience with C/C++ compilers, linkers and compiler tools.
  • Strong understanding of docker, microservices, Kubernetes and cloud backend.
  • Experience in AWS / Google Cloud / Azure.
  • Linux experience, preferably Ubuntu or Redhat.
  • Understanding of meta build systems like Bitbake and Buildroot.
  • Fundamental understanding of OS drivers and packages.

Required Skills:

  • 7+ years of experience with build tools like Make, CMake, Soong, Bazel.
  • 7+ years of experience in embedded - software development environment, SDLC and release processes.
  • 7+ years of experience with Git, JIRA, Jenkins, Quality Center (or other test management tools).
  • 7+ years of experience using SCM like GITLAB, GITHUB or BITBUCKET including writing webhooks, merge strategy and release management
  • 7+ experience managing large scale build and deploy infrastructure, capacity planning and maintenance.
  • 5+ years of experience with scripting languages like Python or Shell
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL and/or other databases or NoSQL databases.

Work Flexibility

  • Travel to worldwide locations required

Compensation

Salary range is dependent on factors such as geographical differentials, credentials or certifications, industry-based experience, qualification and training.

In the city of Redmond, Washington, the salary range for this position is $126,800 - $193,500.

In the city of Santa Clara, California, the salary range for this position is $132,400 - $202,000.
