Senior Audio-Visual Design Engineer

Location: Birmingham, AL (HYBRID)

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to lead and manage our client’s AV Engineering Department at a fast-growing medium-sized commercial AV integrator. The ideal candidate will oversee the department’s schedule, ensure the quality of work, and collaborate with the sales team on project designs and quotes. You will be the technical expert on projects, providing support to deliver solutions that meet customer expectations within budget and on schedule.

Essential Functions:

• Bring a passionate and competent approach to all aspects of the position.
• Take initiative to learn new skills and technologies.
• Exhibit a client-centric attitude for both internal and external clients.
• Maintain a detailed schedule for all Engineering Department tasks and responsibilities.
• Maximize utilization of Engineering Department resources.
• Assist with proposals, scopes of work, take-offs, and other duties to support the sales team.
• Collaborate with Architects, Consultants, Contractors, Vendors, and Clients to provide technical assistance and ensure proper preconstruction requirements.
• Produce drawings, BOMs, and other documentation to support Purchasing, Project Managers, and Technicians.
• Provide technical expertise to the project team on AV projects.
• Manage relationships with partners, vendors, and clients through direct interaction and networking events.
• Obtain an AVIXA CTS-D certification within 90 days of hire.
• Complete certifications as assigned by Management.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Requirements:

• BS in Engineering or a related field, or extensive experience with AV Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of AV Engineering experience.
• Understanding of AV technologies and products for commercial applications.
• Working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure and Microsoft Office suite.
• Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of Control System, DSP, and other AV product setup and programming.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Crestron, AMX, and/or Q-SYS programming certification is a plus.
• Ability to obtain AVIXA CTS-D certification within 90 days.
